I (U. S. Constitution) см. Constitution of the United States II (U. S. S. Constitution) фрегат "Конститьюшн" Построен в Бостоне в 1794-97, спущен на воду в 1797. Во время англо-американской войны 1812-14 War of 1812 вступил в морской бой с британским фрегатом "Герьер" Guerriere и уничтожил его. В ходе боя английский пушкарь увидел, как ядра отскакивают от бортов фрегата, и прокричал, что у него "железные борта" sides of iron. Так фрегат получил прозвище "Старик-железный бок" Old Ironsides. В 1830 поэт О. Холмс Holmes, Oliver Wendell посвятил кораблю поэму "Old Ironsides".
